False Teachers and Teachings
False Teachers and Teachings

In the Old Testament, false prophets were prevalent, delivering messages that aligned with the desires of the king and the people. Modern false teachings are even more insidious. A simple and insignificant meme shared on Facebook can quickly propagate falsehoods more widely and rapidly than Satan himself. The Progressive Christian movement is the one gaining momentum more quickly than any other. Those advocating for social justice causes are reshaping Christianity to align with modern context. I read an article by Colton Hinson in which I paraphrase: "Progressive Christians do not share Jesus' views of scripture. This is a fatal flaw and a fountainhead from which all other flaws derive." Jesus cautioned us about false prophets, who will reject fundamental doctrines, resulting in the teaching of a different doctrine.

False teachers perceive scripture as merely a human creation filled with contradictions, errors, and inconsistent theology. In reality, scripture is flawless and divinely inspired (God-breathed). Some Christians find it challenging to embrace biblical truth in the context of today's complex social and political issues. However, true followers must align their beliefs with the teachings of Jesus, regardless of how unpopular or uncomfortable they may be. You should ask yourself whether you are faithful to Scripture or if you are conforming to cultural comfort. While we all desire a utopian world where Jesus loves everyone unconditionally and all are included, the truth is that Jesus does love you, but he detests your sins. Like any good father, he will not tolerate defiance or accept the excuse that it is simply the way of today's culture. He will judge you as he has judged everyone who has ever lived or will live.

The only way to discover the truth is by understanding His Word. View the Bible in its entirety, observe, study, and analyze it. Everything you need to know about the Bible can be found in the Bible itself. "The best protection against the darkness of error is the light of truth" ~ John Piper. Unfortunately, many people have lost interest in the truth. For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. (2 Timothy 4:3-4). Such people claim they know God, but they deny Him by the way they live (Titus 1:16). We need to test the spirits to determine if they are from God, as many false prophets have entered the world.(1 John 4:1). These people are false prophets. They are deceitful workers that disguise themselves as an angel of light. Even Satan masquerades as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:13-15).

Therefore, I encourage you, my friends, to scrutinize everything you encounter about Christianity on social media. As you deepen your understanding of God's Word, you'll be able to distinguish truth from falsehood. You'll be safeguarded with the Armor of God against the devil's tactics. It won't be simple, and the struggle will be continuous. However, the spiritual battle is already won, and the victory is ours!

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, We are truly fortunate to have you as our leader in this ongoing struggle on earth. The world is in a fallen state, with Satan in control, and your Word is being distorted to align with current narratives. Guide us in discerning Your perfect truth and recognizing the imperfections in human truth. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen!
